Volunteer Greek Teacher 6 hrs per week

We're looking for a volunteer Greek language teacher to join me: someone who can bring warmth, patience, and a genuine interest in the women we work with.

This position will require you to be based in Athens with a desired commitment of 25 hours per month, with commitment until December 2026.

Action for Women is a women-led organisation that has been walking alongside migrant, refugee, and undocumented women since 2016. We offer them a space that is safe, warm, and practical, a place where they can rebuild something. Language is one of the most powerful tools we give them. Greek opens doors to work, to services, to simply being understood. Teaching here is not abstract. You see the difference, week by week.

Where: The Pomegranate Project, Kypseli.

When: From June 2026. Every Monday and Wednesday, from 5:30 to 8:30 in the evening, that’s six hours a week, and a real commitment to something that matters.

What we offer:

  • Real classroom experience with a community that will surprise you. Our students are motivated. They are women navigating enormous challenges, and they show up to class anyway.

  • Adding meaningful experience to your CV.

  • All female team where every person who joins us carries a piece of this work. We don't need perfection, we need presence, consistency, and heart.

If this feels like you, please get in touch with your motivational letter and CV. Email athens@afw.ngo

  • Develop interactive, real-life language activities that support daily life, integration, and self-expression.

  • Contribute to program development by sharing ideas, feedback, and best practices.

Requirements

  • University degree in Greek Language, Linguistics, Education, or related field.

  • Certification or eligibility for adult-educator accreditation (EOPPEP) is an asset.

  • Proven experience teaching Greek as a second/foreign language to adults (required); experience with refugee/migrant communities is a plus.

  • Strong IT skills (Google Workspace, Excel, PowerPoint).

  • Native Greek speaker; English at B2 level or higher.
