Every September in Greece, every family with children in school receives The List: Notebooks. Folders. Pencils. Markers. Glue. Art supplies. And all the other things children are asked to bring with them when school begins.
For a family already under financial pressure, an ordinary school-supply list can quickly become stressful. This year, our team has identified 11 children in the AFW community whose families are facing the greatest financial pressure as school begins.
We want each of them to start the year with a new backpack of their own, together with all the school supplies requested by their teachers.
Because there is dignity in having something new that is yours on the first day.
Our goal is simple: 11 children walking into school with what they were asked to bring, just like everyone else.
